Therefore, in order to promote the goals set forth herein and to provide our
member(s) with rewarding, enjoyable avocations,
we establish the following by laws.
2.0 BY LAWS:
Line 2.1 The Historical Timekeepers denounces, in the strongest possible terms, the
Line 2.2 practice of racism, racial supremacist’s, hate groups and any other group or
Line 2.3 organization that promotes, hatred, distrust, or suppression of any minority or
Line 2.4 ethnic group or misuse of desecration of the symbols of the United States or
Line 2.5 the Confederate States of America. These practices will not be tolerated within
Line 2.6 The Historical Timekeepers.
Line 2.7 The Historical Timekeepers firmly supports the lawfully elected government
Line 2.8 and the laws of the United States of America and does not agree with nor
Line 2.9 support any organization (s) or individual (s) that advocate the use of violence
Line 2.10 as a means of achieving political or social goals.
Line 2.11 The Historical Timekeepers exists to honor the sacrifice of our ancestors and to
Line 2.12 teach the public about life during the Civil War era.
Line 2.13 The Historical Timekeepers is to provide a means for non-reenactors to enter
Line 2.14 the hobby of reenacting easily. Cost effectively and stress free. We encourage
Line 2.15 everyone to work together as a whole to help and encourage all members of
Line 2.16 The Historical Timekeepers to better themselves and to work toward bettering
Line 2.17 the hobby for all whom enjoy it.
3.0 MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Line 3.1 Attend as many events as possible, no mandatory number is set, however to be
Line 3.2 considered an active voting member, you must attend at
Line 3.3 least 3 full events per year.
Line 3.4 The Historical Timekeepers reserves the right to deny membership to anyone who
Line 3.5 has been convicted of a felony, sexual misconduct, or a violent crime. If such
Line 3.6 conditions exist the members of the Historical Timekeepers will meet as a group
Line 3.7 to discuss and decide the appropriate course of attention to be taken.
Line 3.8 All persons under the age of 18 must have on file with The Historical
Line 3.9 Timekeepers a membership form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Line 3.10 The Historical Timekeepers medical information form and a current photograph
Line 3.11 (dated). Parents or legal guardians are responsible for the supervision of their
Line 3.12 under 18 year old person, at all times. Supervision of a under 18 person, may be
Line 3.13 transferred from the parent or legal guardian to a member(s) of The Historical
Line 3.14 Timekeepers with the consent of the member(s) and the knowledge of the
Line 3.15 President or the designated group leader at that specific event.
4.0 CAUSE FOR DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS:
Line 4.1 "Social" consumption of alcoholic beverages, when appropriate is acceptable after
Line 4.2 all weapons have been secured at the end of the day’s activities and when other
Line 4.3 duties or responsibilities are concluded. The consumption of alcoholic beverages
Line 4.4 by those not of legal age is not condoned and will not be tolerated.
Line 4.5 This will result in immediate dismissal from the Historical Timekeepers and
Line 4.6 will be reported to the local law enforcement agencies as well.
Line 4.7 The use of or possession of illegal or non-prescription drugs at any
Line 4.8 The Historical Timekeepers functions or functions that The Historical
Line 4.10 Timekeepers is participating in will not be tolerated.
Line 4.11 Use or possession will result in the immediate and permanent expulsion from
Line 4.12 The Historical Timekeepers. All incidents will also be reported to the
Line 4.13 local law enforcement agencies.
Line 4.14 Violence in any form will not be tolerated and will be reported to the
Line 4.15 local law enforcement agencies. Charges will be pressed to the fullest.
5.0 JUDICIAL BOARD:
Line 5.1 In the event the board is formed, the chairman or any other senior member of the
Line 5.2 group will preside over the board and act as the chairman of the judicial board.
Line 5.3 The chairman will select two civilians, not involved in the dispute and or neutral
Line 5.4 persons all parties have agreed upon. If parties cannot be agree upon, the
Line 5.5 chairman of the judicial board may over rule and pick parties he/she feels will
Line 5.6 hear their case fairly. After the cases are presented the board may deliberate
Line 5.7 and pass its judgment, which will be subject to a 2/3 vote, minus those involved
Line 5.8 in the dispute. The decision and findings of the board must be fair.
Line 5.9 The judicial board may reprimand, change on individual’s status within the
Line 5.10 group or recommend for the individual (s) be dismissed from
Line 5.11 The Historical Timekeepers. The member in question may appeal the rulings of
Line 5.12 the board within 30 days of the board ruling. The appeal must be in writing and
Line 5.13 forwarded to the chairperson. Any appeals must be heard in front of no less
Line 5.14 then 3 - 4 members in good standing with The Historical Timekeepers.
Line 5.15 If an appeal to the board is not heard within 3 months of the decision and if the
Line 5.16 member was dismissed from the Historical Timekeepers, he/she may
Line 5.17 automatically rejoin The Historical Timekeepers as a probationary member
Line 5.18 after 3 months time of dismissal. If a second judicial board is to be called
Line 5.19 for any member and the member having been found guilty of said offence,
Line 5.20 membership will be terminated and he/she will have no further opportunities to
Line 5.21 join The Historical Timekeepers, for a period of 2 years.
Line 5.22 Any member dismissed due to conflict, violent behavior, substance abuse, shall
Line 5.24 not be reinstated as a member regardless of vote.
6.0 BOUNTIES:
Line 6.1 Bounties paid to the Historical Timekeepers (such as fashion presentations and
Line 6.2 any money’s made from the New Years Gala) will be deposited into
Line 6.3 The Historical Timekeepers account.
Line 6.4 Bounties paid to individuals will be left to the individual’s discretion.
7.0 MEETINGS
Line 7.1 The Historical Timekeepers annual meeting will be held in February of the up
Line 7.2 coming year at a location and time to be determined by the president.

8.0 DUES:
Line 8.1 The Historical Timekeepers annual dues will be due to the treasurer at the annual
Line 8.2 meeting and no later then the first Historical Timekeepers event of the forth
Line 8.3 coming year. The dues will only be raised if the Historical Timekeepers vote to do
Line 8.4 so at the annual meeting and will take effect at the following annual meeting.
Line 8.5 Schedule of dues:
Line 8.6 Individual person (over age 18) $15.00
Line 8.7 Family ( 2 adults, 3 children under age of 18) $25.00
9.0 DISBURSEMENTS OF FUNDS
Line 9.1 Incorporating and registering the Historical Timekeepers name.
Line 9.2 Items needed for group sponsored events.
Line 9.3 Stamps, envelopes, paper, etc. needed to inform group of up coming events.
Line 9.4 Charitable contributions and value. (Will require a group vote.)
10.0 EVENT ETIQUETTE
Line 10.1 Appropriate attire and camping equipment (assuming you are staying over
Line 10.1-1 night) must be completed within the first year of membership.
Line 10.2 If setting up tents arrive on the day designated by the event for set up.
Line 10.3-1 The president of The Historical Timekeepers must be contacted at
Line 10.3-2 least 5 days before any event that you will be attending and if anyone
Line 10.3-3 extra is joining you.
Line 10.4 Should you not be able to attend as scheduled, please notify the President
Line 10.4-1 of the group.
Line 10.5 Attending for the day(s) but not staying on site, we ask that you arrive at
Line 10.5-1 least 30 minutes before the event is open to the public.
Line 10.6 All modern items can be hidden in the storage tent and that you
Line 10.6-1 will be dressed and ready when the event is open to the public.
Line 10.7 When event days end, we are usually allowed to dress down.
Line 10.8 Your modern clothes should be stored in the supply tent out of the sight
Line 10.8-1 of the public till that time. If using one of the tents
Line 10.9 to hang any of your period clothing we ask two things:
Line 10.9-1 A) please use wooden hangers. These are easily found at Wal-mart.
Line 10.9-2 B) Make sure that you’ve checked with the owner of the tent that it is O.K.
Line 10.9-3 to store your items there.
Line 10.10 The original members of The Historical Timekeepers will provide a
Line 10.10-1 supply tent for all to use.
Line 10.10-2 A) All coolers must be stored in this tent.
Line 10.10-3 B) Tin plates, cups, silverware, pot holders, paper towels, garbage bags,
Line 10.10-4 fabric napkins, non water anti hand wash, sanitary wipes for the
Line 10.10-5 counters, kettles, pots, fire grate and prepping area’s will be provided.
Line 10.11 Two receptacles will be inside the tent. One will be for garbage and
Line 10.11-1 the other for soda cans and plastic bottles.
Line 10.12 A container will be provided for dirty dishes and napkins.
Line 10.13 We ask that any and all foods being brought out with you will be in
Line 10.13-1 Tupperware and or plastic zip lock bags so we attract as
Line 10.13-2 few bugs as possible.
Line 10.14 At all times we ask that the counters in the supply tent be kept clean and any
Line 10.14-1 food dropping to the ground will be tossed in the garbage or fire pit.
Line 10.15 If arriving after an event has started if possible please come dressed
Line 10.15-1 and leave coolers and other modern conveniences in your car till
Line 10.15-2 the event close’s. We need to respect the event rules at all times.
Line 10.16 Anyone using the supply tent during event hour’s needs to make
Line 10.16-1 sure the tent flaps are closed and where needed tied shut, so the
Line 10.16-2 public does not see this area.
Line 10.17 Since most events require each person to register it will be your
Line 10.17-1 responsibility to do so.
Line 10.18 Where meals are not provided you will need to bring your own food
Line 10.18-1 and beverages. Some events do have vendors available.
Line 10.19 Some events provide a meal or meals. The group coordinator will need to
Line 10.19-1 know who will be joining in those meals so he/she can advise the event.
Line 10.20 There are some events where dinner is not provided or what has been
Line10.20-1 offered in the past is well, not worth eating.
Line 10.20-2 When we know this is going to happen those staying for the evening bring
Line 10.20-3 foods and we have a buffet. At such times we will ask in advance
Line 10.20-4 who’d like to bring what.
Line 10.21 Anyone wishing to bring a guest may do so but you will be responsible
Line 10.21-1 for their food, beverages and making sure they understand all rules.
Line 10.21-2 They will need to pay at the gate/ entrance.
Line 10.21-3 If coming in period dress for the event, it must be appropriate attire for the
Line 10.21-4 1860's. NO flip flops, modern day shoes, etc.
Line 10.21-5 Dress needs to be reviewed with the group president or the
Line 10.21-6 designated group leader at that specific event.
Line 10.22 Guests are always welcome as spectators. Who knows, they just might
Line 10.22-1 decide to join us.
