Wade House
Greenbush, WI.
Located in the small country town of Greenbush, WI., The Wade House is an 1850's Stage Coach Inn that was a half way point between Green Bay and Milwaukee. The Inn is surrounded by other buildings, such as a blacksmith shop, saw mill and huge wagon museum. Once a year, every fall, the park is transformed into a huge Civil War encampment, where the Union and Confederate forces meet on the battlefield and spectators revel in the sites and sounds of years gone by.
The Historical Timekeepers would easily state that this is one of their favorite events, and the pictures will tell the story. Our rather large civilian village was a great source of knowledge for those interested in the home front life of the Civil War. The groups blacksmith, tinsmith, bee keeper and numerous other members were busy educating and entertaining the public all weekend. The battles, there were two each day, were a site to be held. And our after hour entertainment was quite enjoyable.
So we encourage you to come to Greenbush next year, the last weekend of September.
Enjoy the fall colors, the great landscape, the sites and sounds
and see what the Civil War was like !
Thank you to Keith Jacks and Jenna Theissen, both members of the Historical Timekeepers, for the great pictures for all to enjoy!
